New Things

It was like getting home from a trip and, despite being parked in your driveway, sitting in the car as long as you can because as soon as you open the door, vacation is over.

Thestrals

But now, he can see what’s pulling the carriages.
Thestrals, Luna tells him. They’re thestrals.
Bare boned horse-like creatures covered in reptilian scales and flanked by the leathery wings of a bat.

Heart to hearts.
New and old friends.
The nervousness of going to the dining hall for the first time.
And turning right back around and walking out.
Watching your first sunset from your dorm.
